Global Warming

After watching a special with Anderson Cooper on Nancy Grace’s show last night, I thought I’d write down some of my thoughts on global warming.

Nancy Grace drives me nuts, by the way. I’m not completely sure why, but I just thought I’d throw that out there.

Apparently Anderson recently spent time working on a documentary or report on global warming. During the interview last night Anderson mentioned that global warming will definitely be a problem for our children and grandchildren. Is that so? Do you know that for a fact? Hey, in the 70’s we were on the brink of the next Ice Age, and 30 years later we’re on the brink of turning the Earth into an inferno.

Funny how that works. It’s also funny that global warming didn’t become that big of a topic in the media until Al Gore decided that it was important. I won’t deny that the Earth is warming. I’m sure it probably is. I also know that the climate goes through cycles. Could that be playing at least some role in the warming we’re experiencing? We never hear about that in the media. Whatever happened to the U.N. report regarding livestock’s contribution to global warming? Funny how the U.N. is only useful to some people when it suits their own goals.

Anderson even went so far as to tie this week’s tragic fires in California to global warming. He stated that the snow in the California mountains is now melting more rapidly, which makes the area drier faster, which then leaves the area susceptible to fires. I don’t know, but that sounds like somewhat of a stretch to me.

Let’s say that global warming is completely caused by humans. How do we even go about changing it? Are we all going to stop driving our cars? Is that even feasible? Or, don’t fly on planes, something Mr. Gore would applaud, I’m sure. The only problem is that he jet sets all over the world. I don’t have a problem with anyone flying, but if you’re going to be the face of global warming, perhaps you should practice a little more of what you preach.

The whole idea of carbon credits seems a little sketchy to me also. So, we’re going to pollute the environment, but buy credits, such as planting a tree, which will take years to offset the polluting that we’ve just done? Doesn’t sound like the best idea to me.

I’m all for not being wasteful with what God has given us. But it seems to me that we’ve reached almost hysteria when it comes to this issue.

What do you think?
