Life is Hard 2

The famous line from The Princess Bride goes like this, “Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something.”.

Life is hard. If you haven’t learned that yet, you will, sooner or later.

Granted, “hard” comes in varying levels. What is hard for me would certainly not compare to the suffering of, say, a war refugee, but it’s hard nonetheless.

You can go back to various posts throughout this site to see the difficulties we’ve faced over the years. Difficulties we’ve made it through, sometimes feeling as though we made it by the skin of our teeth.

Thankfully there’s Jesus. The rock to stand on when life gets all sorts of crazy. And we’ve seen our fair share of crazy in this family. If we didn’t have Him I don’t know how we would have made it through. And in a handful of certain situations I’m almost 100% positive we wouldn’t have.

Over some time now I’ve been witness to some hard things in peoples’ lives around me. Things that have made me frustrated, angry, sad – you name it. Sometimes things look hopeless. And certainly calling some of them “hard” is an infinite understatement.

And yet, there is hope. Hope for the root of the issue. Hope that gets to the very core of our being.

Jesus.

John 10:10 (The Message translation) says it like this,

A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.

Yes, the thief is out there. He wants nothing more than to destroy your life. Not only in the here and now but eternally as well.

But “I came…” Jesus came to bring better life than we could ever imagine.

Now, does that mean we won’t go through the hard times and trials of this life. ABSOLUTELY NOT. But there is hope, even if it seems like just a faint glimmer. There is hope.

Hold on to the only Hope that will truly get you through, and you’ll make it.

Amen, amen, amen! We, too, have gone through some times that should have spelled the end for our relationship, but God!!!

So glad for Jesus and the power He brings!

Thanks, Jared, for another excellent post.

    Love the Princess Bride.

    You’re quite welcome!

Where would we be without Him? It boggles the mind.
