Love it! I feel as you do when it comes to this...while there are definitely people who are just haters and will never be satisfied, I don't know if we should dismiss them as easily as we often do. Another story is found in 2 Samuel 16:5-12, where David is confronted by a throwing stones and cursing him. The people with David said "Who is this dead dog that he should sure the King?" and was ready to cut his head off...but David had the wisdom to say..."If he is cursing because the LORD has said to him, ‘Curse David,’ who then shall say, ‘Why have you done so?’” He realized that God could and would use unlikely vessels to deliver His messages. It is absolutely dangerous for the church today to dismiss people, as they may be dismissing God. Really enjoyed the post Jared!!

Enjoyed this blog post, Jared. I once knew a gal who had a melancholy personality, bordering on bi-polar. Her moms advice to her was similar to yours with one addition. Mom said, "If you ever feel like you want to hurt yourself, mark that day on the calendar, then pray for 30 days before you do anything." It was good advice. Everyone suffers from moody blues and anxiety at some point. There, in the midst of a low point, is not the time to make a life-changing decision. Wait, pray, love, focus on serving others. In time, God will change your circumstances, just as He will change YOU! As you have suggested here, from first hand experience (Hang in there): Give it time, but wait expectantly. Hugs, L

I applaud you, Jared, for coming to the decision that you need to speak your mind and heart to the world, in favor of a God that you KNOW listens and answers prayer. I'm excited to read more of your entries in the future. You go, J, you go!!!!!

I think the key to understanding this verse is somewhat in its context and translation. The Greek word "eidos" is translated in the KJV as "appearance." I think a more proper translation of the Greek word, and many bibles translate it this way, would be "shape" or "form." Hence the scripture would read " Abstain from all forms of evil." Makes more sense doesn't it ?

I actually enjoyed this. It reminds of Mrs. Yoder's bit of what is the spiritual lesson. And this is an area Christians need to pay attention that we need to love and pray for everyone no matter what. And yes I liked it partially since I am a Gleek too. :) Thanks Jared. Could you send me links of your blogs when ever there is a new one?

Good points. I believe in just war and the death penalty.

My focus was on abortion. I don't believe it's ever right, regardless of circumstances. That's my take.
