Quick Thoughts on Planned Parenthood

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. Every year I say I’ll write more often here, so hopefully this year that actually holds to be true 🙂

Based on a conversation I joined (or started, depending on how you look at it) on Facebook regarding Planned Parenthood, I thought I’d briefly share what I wrote there.

My thoughts go as follows.

According to https://www.plannedparenthood.org/files/2114/5089/0863/2014-2015_PPFA_Annual_Report_.pdf if you strip out government funding, the remaining income, minus donor support is $374.4 million.

The number of abortions performed was 323,999.

According to https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/abortion/the-abortion-pill the Abortion Pill costs up to $800.

According to https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/abortion/in-clinic-abortion-procedures a Medical Abortion costs up to $1,500.

So if we do some math, using guesses at averages, let’s just say that half of the abortions are from the pill and put an average cost on the pill of $200 (1/4 the “up to” price.)

Put an average of half the abortions as Medical, with an an average cost of $375 (1/4 the “up to” price).

We get $93.15 million when doing that math. Which would mean just under 25% of income (mentioned above) comes from abortions.

Just rough numbers, but I think it gives us some insight into just how much revenue comes from their abortion services.

Abortion is a topic I’ve written on before and one I feel passionately about, so I just figured I’d supply some numbers from the #1 provider of abortions in the United States (roughly 48%).
